These pages of the wedding album show the groom arriving ahead of his wedding ceremony and being greeted by members of his family. The wedding ceremony took place at the J G Graves Woodland Discovery Centre in Ecclesall Woods, Sheffield on a beautiful and warm summer day. This was our first wedding at this lovely Sheffield wedding venue and being a semi-outdoor occasion, it was a real treat for us to be so close to nature. Up until this wedding day, we have normally photographed weddings in churches, hotels or large country houses so to photograph a wedding in woodland was something a little out of the ordinary for us and we really enjoyed the experience.
The discovery centre is set in these ancient woodlands and makes a wonderful place for a walk with your family, your dog or is indeed a fantastic place to get married in! These are ancient woodlands and it wouldn't be hard to imagine them as an extension of Sherwood Forest which wouldn't have been that far away in ancient times.
With a little imagination it isn’t hard to picture Robin of Loxley (Loxley is about two miles away as the crow flies), Little John from Hathersage (less than ten miles away and visible on a picture from later in the wedding day) riding through these woodlands trying to evade the Sheriff of Nottingham (Nottingham only being about thirty miles away). Lovely wedding ceremony followed by photographs in the woods behind the venue and additional pictures out in Derbyshire.
