The pages of the wedding album from here on cover the wedding reception at Woodthorpe Hall. Woodthorpe Hall is a stunning 17th century hall in Holmesfield near Dronfield in North East Derbyshire. We were really blown away by this place, stunning doesn't really do it justice. Woodthorpe Hall really needs to be seen to be believed, hard to imagine somewhere like this is so close to Sheffield but be relatively unknown, certainly by us until we photographed this wedding.
The wedding reception took place following a wedding ceremony at the J G Graves Woodland Discovery centre in Ecclesall Woods on the outskirts of Sheffield. All the wedding reception activities took place in a marquee in the stunning two and a half acre grounds of Woodthorpe Hall. This continued the outdoor theme of the wedding following on from the ceremony at the woodland discovery centre. This was a very different wedding for us, but we really loved it! Photographing a day where most of the activities were outside is different to the usual hotel receptions that dominate our photography work.
Woodthorpe Hall books up very quickly and is restricted to the number of events they hold each year, so it is well worth getting in touch at the first opportunity to avoid disappointment. We really hope to have the opportunity to work here again. This style of wedding provides us with somewhere new and exciting to photograph which is always great fun. We don't think that one wedding here was anywhere enough to fully explore the venue and its surroundings. This is a truly splendid reception with magnificent grounds and even a campsite for those wanting to stay over and avoid the taxi back to town!
