Sometime, if everything works out just right, you are in the right place at the right time, the lighting (or lack of it) is just what you need, and you are with a couple who want to do something a little bit different on their wedding day, you can create something a little bit away from your usual style. The couple had indulged us in a wander around the Victoria Quays (or the Sheffield Canal Basin as it was known when we visited from school in the 1970’s) for a wedding day photo session and we rounded the shoot off with this sparker heart which is something a little different from our usual “light and airy” offering. It was certainly a fun photo to get, the couple knew what they wanted, it was up to me to work out how to do it, a couple of misses before we ended up with this which I think worked out really well, our happy couple were certainly pleased with it.
The picture was taken in the grounds of the Crown Plaza The Royal Victoria Hotel in the centre of Sheffield late on it he couples wedding day just as the sun had beaten a retreat for the day. It was getting a bit cold by then but it was certainly worth the effort at this magnificent city centre venue. The hotel building has not one but two of the most fantastic staircases of any venue we have ever photographed in, either of these gigantic and simple breathtaking staircases make the most amazing backdrop for any interior wedding day photographs of people or other items of interest at a wedding.
