I took this photograph of a bride the Ready Room at Whirlow Brook Hall prior to her wedding there later that morning. Whirlow Brook is a beautiful wedding venue on the South-West edge of Sheffield very close to the city's border with Derbyshire. The bride is seen holding her magnificent floral bouquet and was so excited and happy at the prospect of her much delayed wedding ceremony finally taking place. This was a significant wedding for all of us as it was our first, and the venues first wedding following the first covid lockdown in the UK in the spring of 2021, so one to remember for all of us. Back then, weddings were restricted to 30 guests, and that included Deborah and myself taking the photographs so this was a very small wedding by many standards and such a shame more people couldn’t have been there to celebrate this wonderful day.
I think that after we had all been confined to our homes for so long during this prolonged period, it became even more important to us all to get out and celebrate something nice, and this wonderful summer wedding at Whirlow Brook was the perfect opportunity and first of many steps on the road to normality.
With this wedding being a very small in intimate gathering, it gave us more time to interact with guests as well and the happy couple and to spend more time creating some lovely wedding day photographs for everyone there. The grounds were almost deserted as we walked around taking wedding day photographs around Whirlow Brook Hall. Despite all the restriction in place in country and the world at the time, we managed to create some beautiful images for the couple to remember their wedding day by, and it was fantastic to be part of the world starting to open up again on the long and slow return to some sort of normal existence and way of life.
